a peach

the sun warmed my bones but the dry wind cut my flesh
and i kept walking. i could see sand for miles and miles
and not a drop of water to cooly feel in my lips. i just crashed.
"this is my life". i laid naked buried underneath files
and cubicles and screens that robbed everything of color.

the sun suddenly became hot and unbearable. it came closer.
i could barely keep my eyes open but i could still see you
brighter than any sun and more beautiful than any flower.
your hips danced and entranced me and i fought the universe for you.
you laughed and said you loved me back and that you'd be a doctor.

then we held hands and the world had never been a desert but a beach
and the wind caressed our lips as we kissed. a cosmic princess i had found
and in dreams nor delusions nor reality you ceased to exist. Like a peach
ripe and juicy in a hot summer, your love overflowed and i felt bound
to this infinite love and a grayed out life was full of color.
